WE ARE GOING TO SEE JERSEY BOYS ON SUNDAY OCTOBER 26, 2008 AT 2:00 PM

Support St Jude’s Outreach and enjoy the Broadway musical, Jersey Boys! Tickets are available for a limited time to a block of orchestra level seats reserved especially for Church of St. Jude customers.

Seats are being held at the Toronto Centre for the Arts for St. Jude’s patrons only until August 31st then the remaining seats will be released to the general public. Tickets cost $110 each and a portion of each ticket sold during the month of August will be returned to St. Jude’s Outreach to support fundraising for an African, fresh water well.

Just make sure to quote "St. Jude" when you are ordering your tickets at 416 590-0843. (Note: If you don’t mention St. Jude’s you will not have access to our block of seats or commit a portion of the ticket price to Outreach.)

Don’t miss your chance to see this musical story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons while enjoying some fellowship as you sit with a group of St. Jude’s parishioners on that October Sunday afternoon. You are welcome to purchase tickets for family or friends to attend with you.

Prayer Beads

What are Prayer Beads?

Anglican Prayer Beads are made up of 33 beads, the number of years Jesus lived.  There are four groups of seven "weeks".
There are four cruciform beads in the shape of a cross, and an invitatory bead, our invitation into prayer and our reminder that we are entering into a holy time.

Praying with beads engages our body, mind, and spirit.  The beads are an anchor, something solid to hold on to.
They may simply serve as a reminder to help us stay in the moment, focused on our prayer.

At St. Jude’s Church, Prayer Beads are for sale (custom made).

All profits support Outreach.  The cost of the prayer beads vary with your custom selection.

Please see Sylvia Anderson to place your order.

Deacon's Pantry

The Deacon's Pantry (food bank) was formed at St. Jude's in 1983 as an Outreach program to aid those in need of assistance in our community.  The food bank is managed by St. Jude volunteers and is open every Wednesday from 10:00am until Noon and is closed during the months of July and August.

We rely on you, the parishioners of St. Jude, to keep the Deacon's Pantry supplied, as this is our only source of food (we receive nothing from the Daily Bread Food Bank).   In 2001 we had 172 requests for assistance.  The families include young children and teenagers.  Our customers appreciate the help they receive and our volunteers are always willing, time permitted, to have a friendly chat with them.

Your donations to The Deacon's Pantry can be dropped off in the church narthex.

Operation Christmas Child

op_christmas_child1.gif (11075 bytes)

For Christmas 2001, we delivered approximately 180 boxes of presents for needy children to
Operation Christmas Child,
organized by the Samaritan's Purse project.

With your generosity we can reach our 2002 goal of 200 boxes.  Shoe boxes, flyers and information have arrived.
Please take a box home to fill out for a needy child this Christmas.
Please watch the bulletin for timeframe to bring them back in.

Volunteers would be greatly appreciated; many hands make light work.  Thank you.
